Calcium = CaValency = 2Phosphate = PO₄Valency = 3-----------------------------------Write the symbol and valency of calcium and phosphate as shown below :-Symbol Ca PO₄Valency 2 3Now , criss cross the chemical formula of calcium with the valency of phosphate and ,also the chemical formula of phosphate with calcium,we get the chemical formula as:-Ca₃(PO₄)₂We are putting here brackets , as there are more than 2 ions inthe compound.

Calcium phosphate is achemical compound. Its chemical formula is Ca3(PO4)2, although there are otherformulas, like Ca2HPO4 (dicalciumphosphate) and Ca(H2PO4)2 (monocalciumphosphate). It is made of calcium andphosphate ions.
