The muscular wall of stomach plays a major role in the process of digestion. They contain secretary glands that release digestive juice. The lining of stomach has ridges called rugae. When food enters the stomach through cardiac sphincter, the walls of stomach starts churning and breaks down the food into smaller particles. The process of churning is accompanied by number of digestive enzymes such as pepsin, trypsin and hydrochloric acid. Pepsin and trypsin released in their inactivated form in the stomach and then later on get activated b HCL.
