the stone passes which inertia of motion

Ajay wanted to play a game, through which he could learn science also.He took a piece of thread and tied a small stone at its other end. Then he moved the stone to describe a circular path with constant speed, by holding the thread at the other end. Suddenly the thread breaks. He was surprised to see that the stone moves in a straight line path. By repeating this activity a few more times and releasing the thread at different positions of the circular path,he checked whether the direction in which the stone moves remains same or not. the stone passes which inertia of motion

When a stone is tied at one of the ends of thread and rotates, it moves towards tangent direction. The stone end rotates continuously and describe a circular path to move the object at any angle. When releasing the thread, the stone moves towards tangent direction. It places by releasing force and thus get into a full motion.
