The story Gandatindu Jataka is one of the stories from the Jataka tales which are written in the Pali language.

This tale from Jataka tells a story about a wicked king named, Panchala who was a ruler of the Panchala Kingdom.

Once the king decided to go around his Kingdom in disguise and know from his subjects what they thought about him. The subjects in the story are elderly women and men, herders, cultivators, village boys and even animals.

When asked from his subjects king got to know that his subjects were not happy with him and hated him for his cruelity and poor administration due to which they were now living in the forest.
