The main character of the story, the farmer Rencho, writes a letter to God. In the letter, he asks the Almighty for help when he discovers that his entire crop  has been destroyed by a devastating hail storm. His wishes are partially, if not perfect, fulfilled, but ultimately remain ungrateful. He also questions the postmaster's honesty and humility. But it was only these  beings that actually (anonymously) helped him with money  in the name of God. We have learned that faith has the power to give us what we want to meet our needs. But we must recognize that humanity is still dominant.
