Letter to the Editor: Protect animals from abuse
Sir,

Every day in this city, county and state, animal abuse is happening at an all-time high, from dogs being left in hot cars to not having food, water, shelter or proper veterinarian care.

Many dogs are being stolen from owners' homes, porches and yards to be resold or worse — to be used as bait dogs for dog fighting. Puppy mills need to be shut down and all pets should be spayed or neutered. Many that are adopted out will end up back in the vicious cycle of abuse since many adoptees at shelters are not screened to make sure the pet is going to a stable environment.

Owning a pet should be a privilege. They want and need love and companionship just like humans. They should not be locked in cages 24/7 or used as breeding machines when thousands are killed daily.

Also many of the animals are getting killed for their meat. The killing of the animals has a harmful effects on our environment. First of all, the killing of the animals disturbs the food chains. It leads to reduction in their number
So I request you to kindly look into this matter and take effective steps to stop the unnecessary killing of the animals.
