hello mate,
hope this is the story your question depicts
The address is a story by Marga Minto, who narrates a story of a lady who after losing her family to a holocaust returns to 'the address' in order to collect the family possessions that had been left with a non Jewish lady Mrs Dorling.
Upon returning, Mrs Dorling did not recognize the lady author and was given a cold shoulder by Mrs Dorling.
this act is Mrs Dorling was enough to tell that the lady's mother was betrayed by Mrs Dorling. After being treated obnoxiously by Mrs Dorling at the first visit, the lady developed a awful impression of Mes Dorling.
On her second visit to the house, lady author was greeted by Mrs Dorling's daughter who unlike her mother offered a cup of tea to the author. the author realized that Mrs Dorling's daughter loved the possessions dearly and was proud of having them.
At the end the author decided on not taking the possessions along as she felt that it would remind her of her family members who died in the war.
The story was an excellent depiction on the fact that holding on to that past is an extremely painful exercise.
it indirectly laments that letting go of past can be daunting but also it lifts of a bigger weight from our backs. 'The Address' by Marga Minco is indeed a inspiring story which sheds an adequate amount of light on the importance of letting things go.
