Explanation:

The product Benzyl Chloride when reacts with Sodium Cyanide(NaCN) in the presence of dimethylformamide(DMF) the  CH2Cl bond breaks into two parts one part CH2+ and another part Cl -.

Now the next step comes as the breaking of NaCN bond it breaks as Na 2+ and CN-

Now in the last step CH2+ reacts with CN to form CH2CN.
