we will substitute the given values

⇒ 1200 = [$\frac{30}{31}$] * x

⇒ x = $\frac{1200\: *\: 31}{30}$

⇒ x = $\frac{37200}{30}$

⇒ x = 1240

Therefore, we will get

No. of teachers = [the fraction of teachers of the total members] × [total no. of students]

we will substitute the given values

⇒ No. of teachers = [$\frac{1}{30\:+\:1}$] * 1240

⇒ No. of teachers = [$\frac{1}{31}$] * 1240

⇒ No. of teachers = 40

Total number of students in school = 1200

To Find :

The number of teachers in school

Solution :

As The ratio of student to teacher = 30 : 1

So,

Let The number of students in school = 30 x

Let The number of teachers in school = x

∵   number of students in school = 1200

i.e  30 x = 1200

∴         x = $\dfrac{1200}{30}$

i.e        x = 40

So, The number of teachers in school = x = 40
