The Topic - Voices !!

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎In English Grammar, there are two types of voices. They are:

  1. Active voices
  2. Passive voices

↦Active voice: A sentence is said to be in active voice if it's subject performs the action to its object.

  • Structure – Subject + Verb + Object
  • Example – They had completed the work.

↦Passive voice: The sentences where its subject receives the action from the object are said to be in passive voice.

  • Structure – Object + Helping verb + Verb 3 + by + Subject
  • Example – The work had been completed by them.

* Rules to change a sentence from active to passive:

  1. Pick out the subject, the object and the verb in the sentence.
  2. Identify the tense of the verb in the sentence. Once you've identified, then recall its structure of passive voice according to the tense.
  3. Interchange the places of subject and object.
  4. If the subject is a pronoun, then change it into its appropriate object pronoun.
  5. Insert the suitable auxiliary verb (by referring the structure).
  6. Change the verb to its third form i.e, to its past participle form.
  7. Insert the word "by" before the subject.
  8. End the sentence with a full stop. \:
