Let the no. of students in 1st batch=2x

the no. of students in 2nd batch=3x

the no. of students in 3rd batch=5x

Now,

If 20 students are added to each

(2x+20)+(3x+20)+(5x+20)=4x+5x+7x

10x+60=16x

16x-10x=60

6x=60

x=10

Total students before=2x+3x+5x

=2(10)+3(10)+5(10)=100

Answer:

Total students are 100

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio of students in the three batches at a university are 2:3:5.

Let them be 2x, 3x and 5x

Now, It says that its increased by 20

So,

(2x + 20) ; (3x + 20) ; (5x + 20) and the new ratio we will be getting is 4:5:7

Let them be 4x, 5x and 7x

Equation formed :

⟹ (2x + 20) + (3x + 20) + (5x + 20) = 4x + 5x + 7x

According to the question,

⟹ 2x + 20 + 3x + 20 + 5x + 20 = 4x + 5x + 7x

⟹ 10x + 60 = 16x

⟹ 16x - 10x = 60

⟹ 6x = 60

⟹ x = 60/6

⟹ x = 10 ans.

Hence,

➣The students are 2x = 20 ; 3x = 30 ; And 5x = 50

➣ So, total students will be:

20 + 30 + 50 = 100 ans.
