Answer:

there are 100 students and they all gave 100 rupees

Step-by-step explanation:

100 × 100 = 10,000

we know that 100^2 or 100×100=10,000

let no of students be y

and y × y = 10,000

so y^2 = 10,000

y= root of 10,000

y = 100

from this equation we found out that there are 100 students and when each gave 100 rupees answer came 10, 000

Given: Amount donated by the students of class VIII = Rs. 10,000

          Donation made by each student = Total number of students in the class

To find: The number of students in the class

Let: Total number of students = X

Solution: According to the given problem,

Donation made by each student = Total number of students in the class

and total donation made by all the students of the class = Rs. 10,000

Now, if total number of students is X, then donation made by each student must also be X

Total donation = Donation made by each student x Total number of students

⇒ 10,000 = X × X

X^{2} = 10,000

⇒ X = \sqrt{10,000} = ± 100

Since, number of students or amount can't be negative, ignore -100.

Hence, the number of students in the class are 100 and each student donated Rs. 100.
