The sulphate of an element contains 42.2% element . the equivalent weight of the metal would be?

Since it is a Sulphate, the formulae for the Sulphate would be :

Let X be the element hen the formula would be :

XSO₄

Since the element is 42.2%, the SO₄ would be :

100% - 42.2% = 57.8%

Molar mass of SO₄:

64 + 32 = 96g / mole

This represents 57.8%

Mass of the metal therefore is:

(0.422 / 0.578) × 96 = 70.09
