The answer is Afzal Khan.
The Sultan of Bijapur sent Afzal Khan to subdue Shivaji. Adil Shah was instructed to bring Shivaji either dead or alive. Adil Shah sent a Brahmin officer to meet Shivaji and express his desire to meet the Maratha Emperor. He also promised to hand over some districts and forts that he had seized to Shivaji and also confer him with some titles. The primary condition for the meeting was that they would meet each other alone without any of their troop members and without any weapon.

Shivaji Bhosale I was an Indian warrior-king and a member of the Bhonsle Maratha clan. Shivaji carved out an enclave from the declining Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur that formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire. In 1674, he was formally crowned as the chhatrapati of his realm at Raigad.
