Solution :-
let Arman's present age = x years .
as Rehan is elder Arman by 6 years therefore Rehan's present age would be ( x + 6 ) years .
- the sum of their ages is 34 years .
therefore,
=> x +( x + 6 ) = 34
=> x + x + 6 = 34
=> 2x + 6 = 34
=> 2x = 34 – 6
=> 2x = 28
=> x = 28/2
=> x = 14 .
hence, Arman's present age = 14 years .
so Rehan's present = ( 14 + 6 ) 20 years as he is 6 years older than Arman .
the required age of Arman and Rehan is 14 years and 20 years respectively .
