2
x + y = 7.75 →(1)
x - y = 2.25 →(2)
Add (1) & (2)
2x = 10
x= 5
y = 2.25
xy = 5 * 2.25
= 12.25

debapriyas0000: answer must be 13.75 , check once again
debapriyas0000: xy = 5×2.75=13.75
debapriyas0000: check your solution
prisha1230: yes u r right

Your answer is ---

Let the number be x and y and x > y .

according to question

x + y = 7.75 .....(1)

x - y = 2.25 ......(2)

adding equation (1) & (2) , we get

2x = 10

=> x = 10/2

=> x = 5

put this value in equation (1) , we get

5 + y = 7.75

=> y = 7.75 - 5

=> y = 2.75

Therefore , their product is

x*y = 5 × 2.75

=> x*y = 13.75

debapriyas0000: answer must be 13.75 . check once again
debapriyas0000: 5×2.25 ≠ 13.75
debapriyas0000: 5×2.75=13.75
debapriyas0000: any way thank you, :)
