  • Sum and product of zeroes

Solution:

Comparing with standard equation

ax² +bx +c =0

Therefore

a = 1

b = 7

c = -2

We know that,

Sum of zeroes =  \frac{ - coefficiet \: of \: x}{coefficient \: of \:  {x}^{2} }

 =  \frac{ - b}{ \:  \: a}  \\

So, the sum of zeroes =  \frac{ - 7}{1}  =  - 7

Also,

Product of zeroes =  \frac{constant \: term \: }{coefficient \: of \:  {x}^{2} }

 =  \frac{c}{a}  \\

So, Product of zeroes =  \frac{ - 2}{1}  =  - 2

Hence, the sum of zeroes = -7 and product of zeroes = -2
