Step-by-step explanation:

given:10x+y

x+y=8

y=6x+1

x+6x+1=8

7x+1=8

7=7x

x=1

so, y=6(1)+1

y=7

Given :

  • The sum if the digits of a two digit number is 8. The digit in the units place is 1 more than 6 times the digit in the tens place

To Find :

  • The number

Solution :

Let the number in one's digit be " x "

Number in ten's digit be " y "

So , the number = 10 y + x

A/c , " The sum if the digits of a two digit number is 8 "

x + y = 8 ... (1)

A/c , " The digit in the units place is 1 more than 6 times the digit in the tens place "

⇒ x = 1 + 6y

x - 6y = 1 ... (2)

Now , solving (1) - (2) , we get ,

⇒ ( x + y ) - ( x - 6y ) = 8 - 1

⇒ 7y = 7

y = 1

sub. y value in (1) , we get ,

⇒ x = 8 - y = 8 - 1

x = 7

So , the number = 10y + x = 10(1)+7 = 17
