Given
(a-3) and (a-3)

The sum of (a-3) and (a-3) is
=(a-3)+(a-3)
=a-3+a-3
=2a-6

Multiplication,
(a-3)(a-3)
=a(a-3)-3(a-3)
=a²-3a-3a+9
=a²-6a+9

The answer is 2a-6 if we find the sum.

hope it helps you.

(a-3)(a-3) = a^2 -3a -3a +9
= a^2- 6a +9
here sum = -6
and product = 9
