5/9 and 3/9 if you add 5/9 and 3/9 you will get 8/9 just by adding the numerators 5 and 3 and if you subtract the two you will get 2/9 just by subtracting the numerators

x-y=2/9.....ii
adding equations i and ii
2x=8/9+2/9
2x=10/9
x=10/9×2
x=5/9
x+y=8/9
5/9+y=8/9
y=8/9-5/9
y=3/9=1/3
Hence the two fractions are...
5/9 and 1/3
