Let the numbers be X and Y respectively . Where X is greater than Y

X + Y = 40 -----------'(1)


2 Y = 14 + X

X. + Y = 40

X= 40 -Y

2Y -14 - 40 + Y

3Y =54

Y= 54/3

Y= 18

X= 40-18

X= 22
..........
