Let 5 consecutive no. be
x, x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8

Given their sum up to 310
•°• 5x + 20 = 310
=> 5x= 290
=> x=58

First No. x= 58
Third No. x+4 = 62

Hope it helps

Given:

The sum of 5 consecutive even numbers = 310

Let the five consecutive even numbers = x, (x + 2), (x + 4), (x + 6) and (x + 8)

We have to find, the third number in this sequence = ?

Solution:

According to question,

∴ x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) + (x + 6) + (x + 8 ) = 310

⇒ x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 + x + 8  = 310

⇒ 5x + 20 = 310

⇒ 5x = 310  - 20 = 290

⇒ x = \dfrac{290}{5}

⇒ x = 58

The five consecutive even numbers = 58, (58 + 2), (58 + 4), (58 + 6) and (58 + 8)

= 58, 60, 62, 64 and 66

∴ The third number in this sequence = 62
