The sum of 6 consecutive even numbers is 270. What is the second number in this sequence?

let 6 consecutive even numbers be ,

given sum of 6 consecutive even numbers is 270

hence,

x+x+2+x+4+x+6+ x+8+x+10=270

6x+30=270

6x=270-30

6x=240

x=240/6

x=40

therefore , 6 even consecutive no are 40,42,44,46,48.50

                x, x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8, x+10

According to the question

      ⇒ x+x+2+x+4+x+6+ x+8+x+10=270

      ⇒    6x+30=270

      ⇒   6x=270-30

      ⇒    6x=240

      ⇒      x=\frac{240}{6}

      ⇒       x=40

Therefore , 6 even consecutive numbers are

         ⇒      40, 40+2, 40+4, 40+6, 40+8, 40+10

         ⇒      40,42,44,46,48.50

Thus, The second number in this sequence is 42
