Step-by-step explanation:

let x and y be the integer

such that x+y = 4

x = 4-y .........eq(1)

When we interchange the digits, the one's becomes ten and ten's becomes one's.

such that original number = 10x + y

after interchanging = 10y + x

from question, we have, original number = new number- 18

10x +y = (10y + x)- 18

putting the values of x

we have,

10(4-y)+y = 10y +(4-y) -18

40-10y + y = 10y +4 - y -18

40-9y = 9y -14

40+14 = 9y+9y

18y = 54

y = 54/18 = 3

therefore, x = 4-y = 4-3 = 1

thus, the original number is 10x + y = 13
