Let the age of youngest child be x years .

So the ages of other children is x + 2 , x + 4 , x + 6 & x + 8 .

Their sum is 80 years so we get equation.

x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 + x + 8 = 80

》5x + 20 = 80

》5x = 80 - 20

》5x = 60

》x = 60/5

》x = 12

So the age of youngest child is 12 years .
The age middle child is x + 4 i. e. 12 + 4 = 16 years .
