The sum of ages of a man and his son is 45 . 5 years ago the product of theor ages was four times the man age at that time​

Let the present age of father = x years

and present age of son = y years

then,

acc. to que.

x + y = 45  - (i)

and

(x-5) = (y-5)x 4

x - 5 = 4y - 20

4y - x = 15  -(ii)

eq (i) + eq (ii)

x + y = 45

4y -x = 15

⇒ 5y= 60

 y = 12

putting y = 12 in eq (i)

x + 12 = 45

x = 33

present age of father is 33 years

present age of son is 12 years
