.The sum of ages of a son and his father is 35 years and product of their ages be 150 years, find their ages.

let father's age = x years

let son's age = y years

according to the question,

x+y = 35

x= 35-y

xy = 150

y(35-y)= 150

35y - y^{2} =  150

y^{2}- 35y +150 = 0

(y- 30)(y-5) = 0

y= 30 or y = 5

son's age cannot be 30 years because if we insert this value in x+y = 35

then father's age will be 5 years and this is impossible to have father's age less than son's age

therefore, x=30 years and y=5 years
