Answer:

Let present age of father and son be x and y respectively

then 3 years ago sum of then age is 40.

⇒(x−3)+(y−3)=40

x+y=46⇒y=46−x...(1)

After 2 years ; sum of age of father and son is

Let t=(x+2)+(y+2)

t=(x+2+46−x+2) from (1)

=46+4

t=50

So sum of their ages after 2 years = 50.

Answer:

the age of son is 17 and the age of father is 54-17=37

Step-by-step explanation:

according to the question,

3x+3=54

so,

3x=54-3

3x=51

x=51/3

x=17

therefore, age of son is 17 years and the age of father is 54-17=37 years
