{\bigstar \:{\pmb{\sf{\underline{Understanding \: the \: Question...}}}}}

This question says that we have to find out the present age of a son and a father if the sum of ages of father and his son is 60 years. Afterwards this question says that after 14 years father's age will be three times the age of the son. Let us see how to solve this question!

{\bigstar \:{\pmb{\sf{\underline{Given \: that...}}}}}

The sum of ages of father and his son is 60 years.

After 14 years father's age will be three times the age of the son.

{\bigstar \:{\pmb{\sf{\underline{To \: find...}}}}}

The present age of son

The present age of father

{\bigstar \:{\pmb{\sf{\underline{Solution...}}}}}

The present age of son = 8

The present age of father = 52

{\bigstar \:{\pmb{\sf{\underline{Assumptions...}}}}}

The present age of son be 60-a

The present age of father be a

{\bigstar \:{\pmb{\sf{\underline{Full \; Solution...}}}}}

~ As we already take the assumption's we just have to use them to find out the solution of this question.

⟹ The present age of son is 60-a

⟹ The present age of father is a

~ After 14 years,

→ The age of son be 60-a+14

→ 60-a+14

→ 60+14-a

→ 74-a

⟹ The age of son be 74-a

⟹ The age of father be a+14

~ It is also given that after 14 years, father's age will be three times the age of the son. Henceforth,

⟹ a+14 = 3(74-a)

⟹ a+14 = 222 - 3a

⟹ a + 3a = 222 - 14

⟹ 4a = 208

⟹ a = 208/4

⟹ a = 52

Henceforth, we get 52 as the age of father.

~ Now as the age of son we get,

⟹ 60-a

⟹ 60-52

⟹ 8

Henceforth, the age of son is 8 year's

Let

 \\\\\text{ \bf{The age of Father and Son be x and y .}}\\\\

Given That

  • Sum of ages of father and son is 60 years.

To Find

  • The Present Age of Father and Son.

Solution

Present age of Father and Son,

  • Father age = x
  • And, Son age = 60-x

\\\\\text{After 14 year's, Father age and Son age be,}\\\\

\\\sf{Father~ age= x+14}

\sf{And~ Son ~age= 60-x+14=74-x}\\

 \\\\\text{ {\pink{After} 14 years ago father's age will be three times the age of the son.}}\\\\

\\  \bf{According  \: to \:  Question}\\\\

 \sf{→x+14=3(74-x)}

 \sf{→x+14=222-3x)}

 \sf{→x+3x=222-14}

 \sf{→4x=208}

 \sf{→x=\cfrac{208}{4}}

 \sf{~~~x=52}

~~~~~~~~~~~~~\pink{ \therefore  \text{ Father age = 52 \: years}}
Son age = 60-52
  •  \green{~~~ \text{ Son age  = 8 \: years}}
