area of 2nd square=b*2

a*2+b*2=41

sum of perimeters of 2squares=36

perimeter of 1st square=4a

perimeter of 2nd square=4b

4a+4b=36

4(a+b)=36

a+b=36/4

a+b=9

a=9-b

we know that

a*2+b*2=41

(9-b) *2+b*2=41

81+b*2-18b+b*2=41

2b*2-18b=41-81

2b*2-18b=-40

2b*2-18b+40=0

b*2-9b+20=0
