Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The sum of complementary angle and supplementary angle of an angle is 170⁰.

To find:-

Find the measure of given angle ?

Solution:-

Let the required angle be X°

Complementary angle of X° = 90°-X°

Supplementary angle of X° = 180°-X°

Given that

The sum of complementary angle and supplementary angle of an angle is 170⁰.

=> Complement of X°+ Supplement of X°=170°

=> (90-X)° +(180-X)°=170°

=> 90°-X°+180°-X° = 170°

=> 270°-2X°=170°

=>-2X°=170°-270°

=>-2X°=-100°

=>2X°=100°

=>X°=100°/2

=>X°=50°

The value of X°=50°

Answer:-

The required angle for the given problem is 50°

Check:-

Complementary angle of 50°=90°-50°=40°

Supplementary angle of 50°=180°-50°=130°

Their sum = 40°+130°=170°

Verified the given relations.

Used formulae:-

Complementary angles:-

  • The sum of two angles is equal to 90° then the two angles are complementary angles to each other.
  • Complementary angle of x°=90°-X°

Supplementary angles:-

  • The sum of two angles is equal to 180° then the two angles are supplementary angles to each other.
  • Supplementary angle of X°=180°-X°
