Find the number.
EXPLANATION.
As we know that,
Let the tens place = x
Let the unit place = y
original number = 10x + y
reversing number = 10y + x
according to the question,
Sum of digit of a two digit number = 8
=> x + y = 8 .....(1)
The difference between the number and that
formed by reversing the digit = 18
=> 10x + y - ( 10y + x) = 18
=> 10x + y - 10y - x = 18
=> 9x - 9y = 18
=> x - y = 2 .......(2)
From equation (1) and (2) we get,
=> 2x = 10
=> x = 5
put the value of x = 5 in equation (1)
we get,
=> 5 + y = 8
=> y = 3
Therefore,
number are = 10x + y
=> 10(5) + 3 = 53
Number are = 53
