let the age of father be x and daughter's age be y.

A.T.Q=x+y=54--------equation(I)

After 5 years =father 's age =x+5

daughter's age =y+5

and x+5=3(y+5)

x+5=3y+15

x-3y=15-5

x-3y=10-------------equation(ii)

By subtraction method =

x+y=54

x-3y=10

4y=44

y=44÷4

y=11

x+y=54

x+11=54

x=54-11

x=43

Father's age=43. Ans.

Daughter's age=11. Ans.
