Given : The sum of five consecutive numbers is 115.

To find : the number in the middle?

Solution:

Let say 5 consecutive numbers are :

x-2 , x - 1 , x , x + 1 ,x  + 2

Middle number is x

Sum = x - 2 + x - 1 + x + x + 1 + x + 2

= 5x

5x = 115

=> x = 115/5

=>x = 23

number in the middle is 23.
