Solution:-

let Length of 1st rope be 'a' metre (5 2/5)

Length of 2nd rope be 'b' metre (3 3/10)

Length of 3rd rope be 'c' metre (x)

according to above question,

a + b + c = 12 metre-----1

from the given question,

5 2/15 = 77/15--------2

3 3/10 = 33/10------3

substitute values of a,b and c in eqn 1

77/15 + 33/10 + x = 12 m

5.13 + 3.3 + x = 12 m

x = 12-(5.13+3.3)

x= 12 - 8.43

x = 3.57 metre
