as we know that s 2 - s 1 = a 1

s 2 = 2( 2)^2 + 6 (2)

= 8 + 12 = 20

s 1 = 2 1 ^2 + 6 (1) = 2 + 6 = 8

s 3 = 2 n^2 + 6 n

a 1 is the first term = 20 - 8 = 12.

a 2 = s 2 - s 3 = 2 (3)^2 + 6 (3)

= 18 + 18 = 36

common difference = a 2 - a 1 = 36 - 12 = 24
