Let us assume that this number is x .

The sum of itself and its square is one and a half times their difference.

So,

( x+ x^2) = 3/2 ( x - x^2 )

We need to simplify this equation we derived to get the value of x.

> 2(x+x^2) = 3( x - x^2)

> 2x + 2x^2 = 3x - 3x^2

> 5x^2 = x

From here, x can have two values , either 5 or 0 .

These are the two possible answers .
