Answer:

let the numerator = x

let the denominator = y

x+y=8----------1

x+3/y+3=3/4

4(x+3)=3(y+3)

4x+12=3y+9

4x-3y=9-12

4x-3y=-3 ---------2

x+y=8        *3

4x-3y= -3  *1

3x+3y=24

4x-3y= -3

7x=21

x=21/7

x=3

SUBSTITUTING THE VALUE OF EQ.1

x+y=8

3+y=8

y=8-3

y=5

(x,y)= (3,5)

in the fraction form

x/y =3/5

Answer:

x = -27 y = 35

Step-by-step explanation:

let x be the numerator

let y be the denominator

statement 1--

x+y=8---------------(1)

add 3 for numerator and denominator

x+3

y+3

statement 2---

x+3/y+3 = 3/4

4(x+3) = 3(y+3)

4x+12 = 3y+9

4x+3y = 9-12

4x+3y = -3 -----------(2)

by 1&2

x+y = 8 ×4

4x+3y = -3 ×1

------------------

4x + 4y = 32

4x + 3y = -3

(-) (-) (+)

--------------------

1y = 35

y = 35

put y=35 in (1)

x+y = 8

x+35 = 8

x = 8 - 35

x = -27
