Let numerator=x
denominator=y
Therefore x+y=8
Now x+1/y+1=1/15
15x+15=y+1
15x-y=-14
x+y=8
Adding both
16x=-6
x=-6/16=-3/8
y=11/8
Therefore fraction=x/y=-3/11

ashagoyal025pd77jw: how will you get value of Y
jayeshkhurana685: By substituting the value of x in either of the above equations

The part of a fraction that is above the line and signifies the number to be divided by the denominator.

A fraction represents a part of a whole or, more generally, any number of equal parts. When spoken in everyday English, a fraction describes how many parts of a certain size there are, for example, one-half, eight-fifths, three-quarters.

Numerator =x

denominator=y

\therefore x+y=8.....(i)

\frac{x+1}{y+1}=\frac{1}{15}

=15x+15=y+1

=15x-y=-14 ......(ii)

Elementary if we get

15x-y=-14

x+y=8

16x=-6

x=\frac{-6}{16}

x=-\frac{3}{8}

\therefore y is, y=8+\frac{3}{8},\frac{67}{8}

\therefore \frac{x}{y} =\frac{-3}{8}\times \frac{8}{67}

=\frac{-3}{67}
