the sum of the 3rd and 5th terms of an ap is 16

a+2d+ a+4d= 16

2a+ 6d= 16....¹

the sum of the 7th and 12th terms is 38

a+6d+ a+11d= 38

2a+17d= 38...²

form 1 and 2

-11d=-22

d=2

put d in 1

2a+12=16

2a=4

a=2

the first four terms

2,4,6,8

\sf{\implies 2a + 6d  = 16}

\sf{\implies a + 3d = 8} _________(i)

\sf{\implies a + 6d + a +  11d = 38}

\sf{\implies 2a + 17d = 38} ________(ii)

(i) \times 2 - (ii) \times 1

\sf\{\implies 2a + 6d  - 2a  - 17d  = 16  -  38}

\sf\{\implies -11d = -22}

\sf\{\implies d = 2}
