The sum of the ages of A and B is 36 years

Let the ages of A be x and B be y

x + y = 36

x = 36 - y….Eq..1

The difference between their ages is 6

x - y = 6

x = 6 + y…Eq..2

Substituting the value of x from Eq.1 to Eq.2

36 - y = 6 + y

--y - y = 6 - 36

--2y = —30

y = 30/2

y = 15

Substituting the derived value of y in Eq..1

x = 36 - y

x = 36 - 15

x = 21

The age of A is 21 years and the age of B is 15 years.

Answer The age of A is 21 years and the age of B is 15 years.

let the age of one person be 'x'

let the age of other person be 'y'

given that,

sum of ages=x+y=36 --------eq1

difference of ages=x-y=6 ---------eq2

solving 1 and 2

x+y=36

x-y=6

-

___________

2y=30

___________

y=15

substitute 'y' value in equation 1

x+y=36

x+15=36

x=36-15

X=9
