•Let the present age of the father be R years.

•Son's present age= (45 -R )years

Five years ago:

Age of father= (R-5) years

&

Age of son= (45-R-5) years

=) (40-R) years.

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION:

=) (R-5) = 4(40-R)

=) R - 5 = 160 - 4R

=) R+ 4R = 160 +5

=) 5R = 165

=) R= 165/5

=) R=33 years
