ANSWER:-

Given:

•The sum of the ages of a father & son is 45 years.

•Five years ago, the product of their ages was four times the father's age at that time.

To find:

The present age of father & son?

Solution:

•Let the present age of the father be R years.

•Son's present age= (45 -R )years

Five years ago:

Age of father= (R-5) years

&

Age of son= (45-R-5) years

=) (40-R) years.

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION:

=) (R-5) = 4(40-R)

=) R - 5 = 160 - 4R

=) R+ 4R = 160 +5

=) 5R = 165

=) R= 165/5

=) R=33 years

Therefore,

•The present age of father's R= 33 years.

•The present age of son,s= (45 -33)

=) 12 years

Thus,

The present age of father is 33 years.

The present age of son is 12 years.
