The sum of the ages of a father and the son is 40 years. If father's age is 3 times that of his son, fnd their respective ages.

by given condition
x+y=40..........I
by second condition
x=3y
put in i
x+y=40
3y+y=40
4y=40
y=10
put y=10 in I
x=30
father's age is 30 and son's age is 10
