Your answer is --

Let, the present age of mother be x

and present age of daughter be y

Since, the sum of the ages of a mother and a daughter is 50 yrs.

So,

x+y = 50 ...... (1)

Now, 5 year ago

mother age => x-5

daughter age => y-5

since, 5yrs ago the mother age was 7times of the age of her daughter .

So,

x-5 = 7(y-5)

=> x-5 = 7y - 35

=> x - 7y = -30 .....(2)

subtract equation 2 from 1 , we get

x+y-(x-7y) = 50-(-30)

=> x + y - x + 7y = 80

=> 8y = 80

=> y = 80/8

=> [ y = 10 ]

Now, put this value in equation (1), we get

x + 10 = 50

=> x = 50 - 10

=> [ x = 40 ]

Hence,present age of mother is 40 years and present age of daughter is 10 years.

Hello dear here is your answer
Let the mother age be x
her daughter age be y
x+y=50......eq 1
A.t.q
five years ago mother was seven times of her daughter means
x-5=7(y-5)
x-7y=-30....eq 2
On multiplying eq 1 by 7
7x+7y=350.....eq 3
Now on adding eq 2 and 3
we get 8x =320
x=40
putting the value of x in eq 2
x-7y=-30
40-7y=-30
-7y=-70
y=10
Mother's age is 40
Daughter's age is 10
