The sum of the ages of ajeet and ajay is 40years .After ten years ajeet will be twice as old as ajay. Find the present ages of ajeet and ajay.

Ajay=10

Let the age of ajay = x

Sum of their ages = 40

Therefore, ajeet's age = 40 - x

10 + (40 - x) =2(x + 10)

10 + 40 - x = 2x + 20

50 -20 = 2x + x

30 = 3x

Therefore, x = 30/3 = 10

Therefore ajeet's age = 40 - 10 = 30 years

There present ages are 30 and 10 respectively
