Father's age = 40 yrs, son's age = 10 yrs
(40-5)(10-5) = 35 × 5 = 175
40+10= 50

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the age of child be x years,

So, age of father will be (50-x) years

ATGC

(x-5)(50-x-5)=175

(x-5)(45-x)=175

45x-x2-225+5x=175

Rearraging,

x2-50x+400=0

x2-10x-40x+400=0

x(x-10)-40(x-10)=0

Either x=10,or x=40

Now age of son will be always less than that of his father,

Age Of Son=10years

Age of father=40 years
