from second condition,

noww substitute the value of y in equation (1)

x+273/x=46

x²+273=46

x²+273=46x

x²-46x+273=0

x²-39x-7x+273=0

x(x-39) -7(x-39) =0

(x-7) (x-39) =0

therefore, x=7 and x=39

but father's age can't be 7 years

therefore father age is 39 years

and that of sons age be 7 years
