Let the present age of Sriram be x

If his mother is twice his age, mother's age becomes 2x

Mother is 6 years more than Sriram = 2x + 6

The sum of their ages = 57

According to the question,

x + 2x + 6 = 57

➾ 3x = 57 - 6

➾ 3x = 51

➾ x = \dfrac{51}{3}

➾ x = 17

✒ Present age of son is x years

➾ 17 years

✒ Present age of mother is 2x + 6 years

➾ 2 × 17 + 6

➾ 40 years
