given sum of ages of son and father = 48

i.e. x + y = 48 (1)

given y/x = 15 (2)

subtract (2) from (1)

x+ y - y/x = 48-15

2x+xy-y = 33x

xy-y=31x

y(x-1)=31x

y=31x/(x-1)
