Let the present age of A and B be x and y respectively.

Given,x+y=60

Also,
(x-10)=3(y-10)
x-10=3y-30
x=3y-20

Substitute this value in the first equation,

then,
3y-20+y=60
4y=80
Therefore, y=20.

x=40

That is, the present ages are 40 and 20.

Hope it helps.
